Wisconsin Woodchucks visit Marshfield Children's Hospital

Woody the Woodchuck visited Marshfield Children's Hospital Wednesday, July 10 to meet with and bring laughter to our smallest patients and their families.

"The players were really excited about the opportunity to meet the kids – giving them a positive experience and making their day. We all enjoy coming here and being able to give back," said Mark Macdonald, Wisconsin Woodchucks team president.

Woody the Woodchuck, four players and Macdonald visited with nine patients at the Children's Hospital for nearly 2 hours.

"We were excited to invite the Woodchucks to Marshfield Children's Hospital," said Lisa Dmytro, marketing, communications and outreach coordinator for the Wausau and Weston centers. "We have a great partnership with our local minor league baseball team that attracts fans young and old from all around the area."

The visit is another example of the care beyond treatment the children's hospital provides.

"Having an event like this gives the kids something to look forward to. We try to do things daily to make each child's stay more special," said Sarah Houtman, child life specialist at Marshfield Children's Hospital.
