Cancer Research

Providing children with a team approach to treating all childhood cancers and blood disorders.

Working towards cures

At Marshfield Children’s, we try to make an impact on families affected by cancer every day. We combine our care with scientific discovery so your child has the best treatments.

Worldwide partnership

We partner with Children’s Oncology Group to bring this care to our patients. The group is made up of doctors, nurses and researchers that treat all types of cancers in infants through young adults. As the world’s largest cancer research group for children, it has more than 8,000 members at more than 200 locations in North America and around the world.

Supporting medical missions

Marshfield Children’s supports the mission of Children’s Oncology Group to:

  • Cure all children and adolescents with cancer.
  • Reduce the short and long-term complications of cancer treatments.
  • Find the cause of childhood cancer and ways to prevent it.

We offer treatment and clinical research expertise in all areas of cancer and blood disorders in infants through young adults.

Making scientific discovery

Your doctor may ask you to join in the Children’s Oncology Group cancer registry, a clinical trial or a research study. Often, this is done by treating children on clinical trials. A clinical trial is a set schedule of medications used to treat a particular cancer. At times, clinical trials compare one type of treatment to another type of treatment.

We ask for your participation to offer your child the most effective cancer treatments available. This allows us to continue to discover new information about cancer for the care of children in the future.

Children’s Oncology Group also keeps a registry of all children with cancer. This allows researchers to find new information on the causes of cancer and ways to decrease the side effects of cancer treatment.
