Providing children with a team approach to treating all childhood cancers and blood disorders.
Your child’s well-being is important, that is why we rely on a team approach to blood disorders and cancer care. Our team includes hematologists and oncologists, oncology nurses, surgery, neurosurgery, radiation oncology, interventional radiologists, behavioral health, child life specialists and many other specialists. This team is dedicated to offering expert care to children with cancer and blood disorders close to home.
Your child’s pediatrician will work with your child’s cancer care team to deliver quality care where, when and how you want it by offering:
- Local access to specialists in person or via telemedicine.
- Medical care backed by the cancer nurses and doctors of Marshfield Children’s Hospital and its specialized inpatient oncology wing.
- Seamless care through outpatient treatment options including Treyden’s Cabin at Marshfield Medical Center (medical offices) and Marshfield Clinic Cancer Center-Eau Claire.
Our cancer care and blood disorders team treats many conditions in both inpatient and outpatient settings including:
Access to Clinical Trials
We offer the newest cancer treatment approaches by offering clinical trials and investigational new drugs. This is done through our membership in the Children’s Oncology Group at the National Cancer Institute.
Treyden's Cabin was created to honor Treden Kurtzweil after he passed away from lymphocytic leukemia in 2013. This project transformed the Cancer Care outpatient waiting and patient rooms into a wildland scene with forest murals, campfire scenes, hidden animals and movies to make our children and families comfortable and entertained during their medical care.
Marshfield Children’s Hospital Oncology Wing
Children with cancer may need to undergo inpatient hospital treatments. When your child comes to Marshfield Children’s Hospital, a specialized cancer care wing is dedicated to their treatment, including a solarium where they can find a good book to read or game to play. Each room is painted with a special woodland theme to help ease anxiety during the stay.
