Special Places

Our pediatric locations are designed with children in mind. We provide comfort away from home for your child and family where they can play and your family can relax.

Whether it is the fish tank in our waiting room, or the different murals on the walls -- we believe providing care for children is much more than just treating their condition. Marshfield Children’s provides a wide variety of special locations designed to support your whole family.

Marshfield Children’s Hospital

Themed rooms in our pediatrics unit bring Wisconsin communities to life and help our patients feel at home.

Partner's Cafe

Partner's Cafe, your first encounter with Marshfield Children's Hospital pediatric unit. It features a fireplace and park benches, and is a close-by for family and friends to visit when care teams need privacy in your child's room.

Main Street and Town Square

Find our nurses’ station near the Town Clock. As you stroll down Main Street, notice colorful storefront murals. Follow bunny tracks to designated play areas for young and teenage patients.

Northern Lights

If your child is school age to adolescent, they’ll stay in our seven-bed Northern Lights area. Dimming globe ceilings and a glow-in-the-dark solar system decorate hallways. Most rooms are private with a full bath, TV and a sleeper-seating couch.

The Cabin

The Cabin is an extension of Pediatrics. It is structured primarily for hematology and oncology patients.

Unique to The Cabin is a positive pressure environment. This means air pressure is higher within The Cabin than outside, so contaminants (particles, viruses and bacteria) are kept out. Purified air is essential for pediatric patients who have poor immune systems: children with cancer, blood disorders or immune problems.

Northwoods murals support a quiet atmosphere. Rooms include a full bath, TV and couch-chair for parents.

The Solarium

Like The Cabin, The Solarium features a positive pressure air system. If your child has cancer, The Solarium is a place where they can safely go outside of their hospital room to enjoy a more normal environment of sunlight and activities.

Teen Lounge

If your child is 12 or older, they’ll enjoy our Teen Lounge. The Lounge includes foosball, a computer and games.

Children's Miracle Network Backyard

A fenced in "yard" on the roof near our unit welcomes children to an outdoor play area away from their rooms. Children's Miracle Network funds our backyard with handicap accessible picnic tables and playground equipment.

Independence Square

A community-designed environment where your child can practice what they've learned in therapy and apply it in a community setting.

Snoezelen Room

A therapeutic environment where your child enjoys subtle stimulation of primary senses.

Snoezelen Room features include:

  • Banana swing.
  • Bubble tube.
  • Changing LED lights.
  • Fiber optic lights.
  • Relaxation music.
  • Physical and occupational therapy gyms.
  • A state-of-the-art treatment and technology space for your child's rehabilitation.

Treyden's Cabin

Children and families in Oncology are put at ease in waiting areas and patient rooms adorned by forest murals with bright colors and woodland scenes. These spaces were transformed in honor of Treyden John Kurtzweil who was diagnosed with acute lymphatic leukemia when he was 2 ½ months old. Treyden’s story touched the lives of thousands of people, and after a very courageous 10-month battle, Treyden received his wings on June 13, 2013, shortly after his first birthday. As a testament to Treyden’s legacy, his family and community raised funds to remodel these spaces to help provide an engaging and stress-free environment for children.
