Marshfield Children's Hospital trauma care is at a level you'd expect from large cities.

Our Level II adult and pediatric trauma center meets all criteria designated by American College of Surgeons (ACS). We are the only ACS designated pediatric trauma center in northern Wisconsin. Learn more about the Wisconsin Department of Health Services hospital trauma classification process.

Expert care at every step

Marshfield Children's Hospital provides total care for every aspect of traumatic injury from prevention through rehabilitation, including research. When your child needs critical care, our highly specialized surgical and pediatric specialists are available in our Level I pediatric intensive care unit. Our multidisciplinary team includes pediatric specialists in general surgery, orthopedics, plastic surgery, neurosurgery, urology, anesthesiology and rehabilitation.

Care starts when an emergency happens

Because our trauma patients travel and fly from as far as hundreds of miles away, our care begins as soon as the emergency starts. Marshfield Clinic Health System accesses the highest quality air and ground medical transport service for our region. 

Support for the whole family

As part of our family-centered care, social workers, child life specialists, psychologists and spiritual care advisors are available to help you and your family cope with and understand the treatment your child is receiving. If your child is going to have an extended stay or treatment, your family may be eligible to stay at the Ronald McDonald House located across the street from the hospital.
