Beating the odds with a smile
Keisha Jackson was referred to Marshfield Children's Hospital when she found out her unborn baby was seriously growth restricted. Amarion was born premature at 26 weeks at 1 pound, 1 ounce. He only had a 5% chance to live. The expert team at Marshfield Children's Hospital cared for him and supported Keisha during a difficult time.
They made the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit feel like home with decorations for Amarion to look at. Child Life and Expressive Therapies worked with Amarion to help him start meeting his developmental goals. Soon, everyone knew Amarion by his beaming smile.
After 421 days in the hospital, Amarion and Keisha were able to go home. Watch this video to hear more of their incredible journey and see how Amarion is doing today.
